Commitee on Underground Space (ITA-CUS)

The Steering Board of the ITA Committee on Underground Space – ITACUS, met in Sao Paulo on 27 and 28 June 2008 on occasion of the 2nd Brazilian Tunnelling Conference 2008. During the meeting the work programme for the committee was finalised and approved by the Steering Board. The work programme will now be presented to the ITA General Assembly 2008 in Agra, India, for approval, making it possible for ITACUS to continue its already started activities.

The Steering Board of ITACUS will actively pursue making contact with other international organisations, especially in the field of Regional and Urban Planning. One of the short term objectives of ITACUS being to seek first contact with these organisations, to develop further relations, so as to create awareness of what the use of underground space has to offer. ITACUS sees it as part of its mission to create a worldwide dialogue on the use of underground space.

ITACUS calls on any organisation or institution which has an interest in the use of underground space, to register its interest by contacting the ITA secretariat. Committee membership is open to organisations and institutions and particularly the participation is sought of City Government representatives.
